TAXCO AND CACAHUAMILPA GROTTOS FROM MEXICO CITY

Early in the morning, we will leave Mexico City and head for Cuernavaca (the city of eternal spring) for a city tour, before continuing on to the village of Cacahuamilpa, where we will visit the famous Cacahuamilpa Caves, considered the second largest in the world. Inside the caves are tunnels stretching up to 10 km in length. Their natural formations take the shape of faces, figures and shapes, such as those seen in the ‘Goat’, ‘Throne’, ‘Fountain’, ‘Palm’ and ‘Cathedral’ chambers. Upon leaving the caves, we will continue to a silver workshop where we will be shown how certain crafts are made using this material and how to distinguish silver from two other metals. We continue to Taxco for a city tour, including visits to some silver shops, the Church of Santa Prisca and the Silver Museum. The rest of the afternoon is free for shopping.
