MEXICO CITY – TRADITIONAL DAY OF THE DEAD AT MIXQUIC

Mixquic is a town that still preserves the tradition and the real essence of the day of dead, they traditionally commemorate this day with sawdust rugs and cempasúchil flowers, prehispanic dances y colorful altars. Dare yourself to know and to discover more about how locals spiritually receive their dead familiars and friends, it’s a unique and every year rite.

1:00 p.m. Meet at Avenida Plaza de la Republica #154, Col. Tabacalera. Registration, access, box lunch and gifts.
2:00 p.m. Start of the tour to the magical neighbourhood of Mixquic, in the south of Mexico City, a town that symbolises the very essence of the ritual of death, preparing to celebrate the traditional Day of the Dead with sawdust carpets and marigold flowers, pre-Hispanic dances and colourful altars. Dare to learn more about how the locals welcome their deceased relatives and friends in a totally unique ritual.
On board the vehicle, you will begin to learn about the curiosities of this journey, the elements that make it up, how to experience the tradition upon arrival in the Mixquic neighbourhood, recommendations for the visit, as well as the history of the buildings.
You will be able to enjoy a snack during the trip and a special seasonal gift.
4:00 p.m. An experiential journey to be part of the traditions of Mexico City, where you can walk through the streets, see different types of altars, enjoy cultural activities, discover colourful sculptures, explore the old church and its cemetery, already decorated everywhere to bid farewell to our loved ones at approximately 8:00 p.m. in the traditional Mixquic light show.
9:30 p.m. The return is on the same day to the same point, arriving at approximately 11:00 p.m.
