During this tour, you will discover the great artistic legacy left by Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera, who are world-renowned for their paintings, their love for the land of their birth, their roots and their culture. The tour includes three iconic sites linked to these two great 20th-century Mexican artists: the house where Frida Kahlo was born and died, ‘Casa Azul’; Diego Rivera’s studio, the Anahuacalli; and the Dolores Olmedo Museum, home to a wonderful collection of Diego Rivera’s works and the world’s largest collection of Frida Kahlo’s paintings. We will begin our tour in the south of the city at the Dolores Olmedo Museum, which is particularly noteworthy because it was not a place where Frida or Diego lived, but a place where much of their legacy remains, as well as an exhibition of over 900 archaeological artefacts from various cultures and historical periods in Mexico, and personal and decorative items belonging to Dolores Olmedo from when she lived in that house.
We will continue on to Coyoacán and the “Blue House”, where you will find a comprehensive collection of this great artist’s belongings, objects and walls that were part of her life and on which Frida created and left her feelings and emotions. Before ending the day, we will visit the Diego Rivera-Anahuacalli Museum, designed by the leading figure of Mexican Muralism, Diego Rivera, to house his vast collection of pre-Columbian artefacts.
